theauthorx is seeking skilled freelance editors with a passion for life sciences to join our growing content editing service. Responsibilities
- Edit and proofread scientific manuscripts, articles, books, theses and other content in the life sciences for grammar, spelling, style, clarity, and scientific accuracy.
- Review content for logical structure, consistency, and readability, making suggestions to improve flow and comprehension.
- Maintain confidentiality of all manuscripts and uphold editorial integrity throughout the editing process.
- Meet project deadlines and manage multiple assignments efficiently.
- Provide constructive feedback to authors and, where required, mentor junior editors or contribute to editorial strategy.
Should Have
- PhD degree. Those who have submitted their thesis may also apply.
- Proven experience editing scientific or medical content, preferably for journals, publishers, or academic institutions.
- Excellent command of English, with strong grammar, syntax, and scientific writing skills.
- Familiarity with journal submission processes and referencing styles (AMA, APA, etc.).
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and scientific rigor.
What the Job Involves
- Editing a variety of scientific documents, including journal articles, abstracts, posters, presentations, and training materials.
- Working independently and flexibly from your chosen location.
- Communicating with authors to resolve queries and ensure clarity in scientific communication.
- Staying updated with best practices in scientific publishing and editorial standards.
- Using editing and reference management tools (e.g., MS Word, EndNote, Mendeley, PowerPoint etc.) as needed.
- Delivering error-free, publication-ready manuscripts that meet the highest editorial standards.
